Rev. C. Lawrence Evans

First Baptist Church Mahan

The Rev. C. L. Evans was installed here as pastor of the First Baptist Church in an impressive ceremony last week. The Rev. F. H. Davis pastor of the Union Baptist Church of Cambridge, Mass., delivered the installation sermon, while the Rev. D. Y. Campbell, pastor of the New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, delivered the charge. The Rev. Mr. Evans took charge of the church in June and during his brief administration has made many improvements. An electric bulletin board has been place in front of the church, and a Hammond electric organ was installed after members raised $1,700 in an eight-week drive.” (Excerpted from a Northeast newspaper, 1937)
