Hertford County, North Carolina: Following family roots… (2012)

About This Project

I finally had a chance to visit Hertford County, North Carolina, where I’ve traced a branch of my paternal family to the 1700s. One ancestors, great-great-great-great-grandfather Abram Vann, founded historic Mill Neck Baptist Church near Como in 1866 with two other gentleman. All were former “colored” members of Buckhorn Baptist Church, where they attended church on Sundays with their slave-holders prior to Emancipation.
